Two threads came together over the summer.

Point of sale

The point-of-sale API that powers the Badger POS app is ready for real use:

  • In-person sales are ordinary orders with a POS badge, so refunds, reports and emails work exactly as they do online.
  • Donations taken at the till can record the donor's Gift Aid declaration on the spot.
  • Refunds can be limited to supervisors, and each member of staff can have their own spending limit.
  • If a card is approved but the app loses its connection before the sale is recorded, the payment is recovered rather than lost.
  • Card brand, last four digits and cardholder name are saved with the sale, so you can find an order without a receipt.

The app itself is in pilot on iPhone with Tap to Pay. Find out about the pilot.

Regular giving that looks after itself

When a subscription or regular gift fails to renew, the supporter now gets one clear email for each retry Stripe makes. It includes a secure link to update their card. A daily check keeps everything in step with Stripe, and you can be alerted in Slack. You can also bill everyone on a common day of the month, and supporters and fulfillers are told when quantities change.
