Start with the documentation
docs.bdgr.co.uk is the main guide to the platform. It is written for the people who run a shop first and for developers second.
Admin guide
How to do the day-to-day: products, orders, returns, search, promotions, locations and settings.
Feature guides
What each part of the platform does and how it behaves, from search and checkout to Gift Aid and fulfilment.
API reference
The REST API, rendered live from its OpenAPI spec, with a way to try calls.
Do you need a developer?
Fewer shops need one than you might expect. This is where the line sits.
You can do it without one
Set up the shop: brand, theme, pages, menus, delivery and promotions
Add and edit products, variants, prices, stock and images
Build pages from content blocks, and add custom CSS from your design brief
Run orders, refunds, returns and cancellations
Let an AI assistant such as Claude do any of the above through the MCP server
Move a catalogue between sites by exporting and importing site data
A developer helps when you want
A connection to another system, such as an ERP, a warehouse or a catalogue feed
Your own product data loaded in bulk from an existing platform
Something built into the storefront that the blocks and themes don't cover
Custom reports, or your own app using the REST API
Larger Enterprise work: stores and warehouses, large catalogues, replatforming
What you can build on
Three public ways in, each documented.
REST API
An OpenAPI-described API for products, collections, categories, pages, menus, orders, configuration and statistics. The spec is the source of truth, so the reference is always current.
MCP server
Every shop has an MCP server that AI assistants use over OAuth to read and run the shop, scoped to one shop and limited by what you allow. Developers can use it from their own agents.
Site data transfer
Export a site's catalogue, content and settings and import them into another site, for staging copies, migrations and demos.
Custom extensions and integrations are built by Kedos on top of the platform.
Delivered by Kedos
Need something built? Kedos does the work
Kedos builds and runs Badger Commerce, and has delivered ecommerce and retail systems since 2009. If you need an integration, a data migration, a custom feature or help launching a larger catalogue, talk to the team that wrote the platform.
See it working, then decide
Try a demo shop, start a 14-day Lite trial, or talk to us about a larger project.
