Release 0.88 went out on 14 October. It's a smaller release, focused on asking your visitors before you track them.

A cookie banner built in

If your shop uses Google Analytics or Hotjar, Badger can now ask visitors whether they accept analytics cookies, and neither tool loads until they say yes. Accept and reject are given equal weight, a "Cookie settings" link lets visitors change their mind at any time, and you can put that link in your footer with your other links. When the cookies you use change, you can ask everyone again. Visitors whose browser sends a "don't track me" signal are treated as having said no.

Every answer is kept as a record that consent was given, without recording who gave it. Tracking code you've pasted into your site yourself can be held back until consent in the same way, and the banner's wording can be changed like any other text on your shop. The banner is optional: a shop that already uses another consent tool, or has no analytics, carries on as before. See storefronts.

Videos that load when they're played

YouTube videos on every Badger shop now wait for a click. Until then the page shows a poster image you choose from your media library, or a plain panel, with a play button. Nothing loads from YouTube before the click, so pages are lighter and visitors who don't watch aren't sent to Google at all.

Images from your AI assistant

An AI assistant working on your shop can now upload an image from its own computer through a one-time link, rather than having to find it on the web first. The image goes straight into your media library, with its title, alt text and tags. See AI.
